In the first game of their season the Freshman eleven defeated Groton on Saturday by a score of 18 to 5. The team played hard and swiftly from the start, sending Hodges over the line for a touchdown after four minutes of play. Nesmith and Nichols, playing the two halves, rushed hard and kept their feet well; the latter scored two touchdowns in the second half. After two futile attempts, Waterbury kicked a goal from the field for Groton in the first half.
