ITHACA, N. Y., Jan. 24.--The Harvard basketball team defeated Cornell tonight at Ithaca by a score of 26 to 20.  Harvard's team work and defense were good, but the goal-throwing was poor.  The line-up was as follows:     Goals from the floor:  Gilles, Clark, Hanavan, Hermes, Townsend, 2, Fosdick, Smith, Tolin, 1.  Goals from fouls:  Gilles, 2, Hermes, 5.  The team will play Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute tonight at Troy.
