Harvard Still On Track To Reach Fossil Fuel-Neutral Status by 2026, Sustainability Report Finds
In a very one-sided and uninteresting game, the University nine defeated the Carlisle Indians on Saturday by the score of 20 to 4. All three of Carlisle's pitchers were hit freely, and in the field the Indians were weaker than any other team which Harvard has played this season. Against easy pitching Harvard batted well. The men were more careful than usual in meeting the ball cleanly, and were not constantly trying to make long hits. On the bases the team showed its usual speed and keenness to take advantage of fielding misplays, but made occasional blunders. Harvard's fielding was fast and clean; of the two errors, Coolidge's was excusable and Reid's was made in centre field.
Clarkson's pitching was very effective. He allowed only on scratch hit, but gave three bases. In the first seven innings the Indians got only one man to first, but in the eighth they scored four runs on two errors, a base on balls, a hit by pitched ball, two passed balls and a scratch hit.
For two innings Harvard did not reach second. Four hits were bunched in the third, and these with a fielding error brought in two runs. In the fifth Pratt weakened, and the Indians went to pieces, Harvard scoring ten runs. After this the Indians played a blundering game in the field, and Harvard, by good batting and base running, scored in every inning.
