The Freshman nine lost a ten inning game to Groton last Saturday at Groton, by the score of 4 to 3. The defeat was the result of ragged fielding and weak batting at critical times. Groton won the game in the tenth because of an awkward collision between Rockwell and Carpenter, which let in two runs.

Three times the Freshmen had the bases filled with one man out, and each times failed to make a run. Twice the whole infield went to pieces, and each time Groton scored. Although the strong wind that blew across the field was partly responsible for the nine errors made by the Freshmen, most of them were inexcusable. The one encouraging feature of the game was the way the Freshmen rallied in the tenth inning, and made three successive hit. Alexander was the only man on the nine who played a careful snappy game. He struck out fifteen men, and, had he received the support he deserved, would have won an easy victory.
