JUNIORS BASEBALL CHAMPIONS.

The Juniors won the class baseball championship yesterday by defeating the Freshmen in an interestin game, by the score of 14 to 9. The game was won by Coburn's effective pitching and timely batting by the rest of the team. The Freshmen were handicapped by the absence of their regular pitcher, Alexander; the substitute pitchers lacked control and were hit freely. The errors made by the Freshmen were costly for the most part and the team went to pieces at critical moments.

The infielding of the Juniors was clean and quick, Chase at shortstop playing especially well. Coburn struck out fifteen men and fielded his position in fine form. Wells caught a remarkably fine game until a foul tip dislocated his thumb.

In batting, Frothingham made the hit of the day, a two-base hit with three men on bases. The rest of the Junior team made hits when they were needed. The base running of the Juniors at times was careless, which was the result of over-confidence, perhaps,--possibly due to poor coaching, with conflicting advice from the side lines.

Rockwell batted best for the Freshmen, making two two-base hits, but the other members of the team seemed unable to hit at the right moment.

The regularity with which Chase was hit by pitched balls, and the two double plays by Parker and Sheldon, and Fischel and Hamlen were the features of the game.
