Yesterday Roche '03 defeated Blagden '04, thereby qualifying for the finals of the University championship. Blagden excelled in base line work, but Roche won out through superior net play. The games in all the sets were close and the players showed unusual form for this time of year. The score by sets was 6-4, 3-6, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5.
In the doubles tournament the matches played yesterday resulted as follows:
Ives 2L. and Derby 2L. defeated Roche '03 and Coburn '02, 6-0, 6-4; Dickinson '03 and Bowdoin '02 won from Lang '02 and Blake '02 by default; Robinson 3L. and Morley 3G. defeated Stickney '02 and Cook '02, 6-2, 6-2; Beals '01 and Thorndike '02 defeated Stowe '04 and Hoe '04 6-1, 6-3.
Today at 3.30 Dickinson '02 and Bowdoin '02 will play Ives 2L. and Derby 2L.
