In the announcement of English courses for next year, the title of English 10 will be changed to Public Speaking. It will probably be limited in the number of students, so each may receive more personal instructions and practice. It may be taken in the Sophomore year or later. The work will be more advanced that it has been, but elementary vocal training will be provided, to be taken either in a preceding year or in hours additional to the regular hours of the course. The work of the course will consist in the study and rendering of model speeches for acquiring the principles of platform speaking and the application of those principles to the presentation of speeches of the students' own composition. Impromptu speaking will also be practiced.
A more advanced class will probably be formed for men who have taken English 10, and for graduate students who intend to teach.
English 10 will, as heretofore, count as a half course, but the work in the other classes cannot be counted towards a degree.
