First Baseball Game Today.

The University nine will play the first game of the season against Middlebury College on Soldiers Field at 4 o'clock this afternoon. Because of the recent wet weather the team has had very little outdoor work, and as a result is in a very early state of development. No hard throwing has been done, the pitchers have not been allowed to use speed, and the men have not been definitely graded; so the game today must be taken merely as practice.

The batting order will be as follows: Harvard.  Middlebury. Story, 3b.  l.f., Lester. G. C. Clark, 1b.  2b., Witherall. Wendell, r.f.,  c., McCurn. Reid, c.  s.s., Drake. Frantz, 2b.  3b., Bailey. Rockwell, l.f.  c.f., Stafford. Coolidge, s.s.  r.f., Hughes. Devens, c.f.  1b., Wilds. Stillman, Kernan, Clarkson, p.  p., Stearns.

If the weather permits a full game, the following men will probably get a chance to play: Lancy 3b., Murphy 2b., J. D. Clark 1b. and c., Higgs 2b., Putnam s.s., Christenson f., Baldwin f., Jaynes f., Pieper f., Wood f., Stewart f.
