The candidates for the University lacrosse team reported for practice last Wednesday. Since then they have been practicing hard for the opening game of the season, next Saturday, with the Crescent Athletic Club on Soldiers Field. The work has been characterized by snap and energy, and the prospects for a strong team are good. Particular attention is being given to fast and accurate stick work, and to the development of team play, which is weak owing to the number of new men on the squad.

Yesterday the squad was divided into two teams and a scrub game was played:

The team expects to start on its southern trip the third of May. It will play Pennsylvania at Philadelphia on the fourth, and Johns Hopkins at Baltimore on the sixth.
