The candidates for the track team began work on Soldiers Field yesterday. The cinder track is in very good condition for so early in the season, and all the men were sent two or three laps at a brisk jog. No attempt was made at jumping or pole vaulting, as the clay take-offs are still very soft. For the next week the character of the work will be different every day, so that when the track and the take-offs are hard and firm, all the men will be in good condition to begin training for their special events. The first actual competition will be the Class games on April 5.
