The Freshman Musical Clubs.

Constant rehearsing of the Freshman Glee, Mandolin and Banjo Clubs has begun. As a whole the material is of good quality and the slight delay in organizing will not interfere with the success of the three concerts which will be given late in the spring. Of the clubs, the Glee Club is probably making the best progress, owing to the fact that six of the members of the club are singing with the University club. There are plenty of good men for the three upper parts, but there is a great lack of second basses, and more men may be called out for that part. J. R. Howard has been appointed temporary leader. The following men are retained for further trial:

First tenors--R. F. Barber, H. C. Ingram, E. O. Hall, S. B. Parker, C. Shea, N. K. Wilcox.

Second tenors--P. Dana, A. Forbes, J. C. Henderson, J. R. Howard, C. N. Holwill, G. Lawton, W. P. Price, L. G. Putnam, J. S. Seabury, S. F. Skilton.

First basses--A. B. Baird, H. H. Ballard, F. R. Bauer, H. G. Dillingham, I. G. Fry, W. Grainger, C. W. Knox, J. Lang, Jr., D. C. Manning, S. A. Weldon.

Second basses--R. R. Alexander, W. G. Barr, L. Brown, E. P. Cole, L. B. Hayes, M. L. Shields.

The Banjo Club is not doing as well. The men have great difficulty in sounding the banjos in unison, and there are not enough guitars. As yet no final arrangement has been made as to allotting men to the first or second banjo parts. A. B. Taylor is temporary leader. The following men are playing with the club:

Banjos L. Davis, H. G. Dillingham, E. N. Durfee, F. B. Ely, L. E. Emes, J. E. Gardner, N. A. Higgins, D. W. Lincoln, F. E. Rich, C. K. Rockwell, A. B. Taylor, G. R. Taylor.

Guitars--W. H. L. Bell, H. I. Cobb, Jr., C. N. Holwill, W. D. Wadsworth.

The Mandolin Club has had few rehearsals as yet and its progress is therefore less marked. P. H. Allen has been appointed leader temporarily. The club is now playing as follows:

First mandolins--P. H. Allen, H. Bartlett, C. W. Lewis, C. Marshall, J. S. Seabury, T. W. Tuckerman, R. G. Whiting, R. W. Varney.

Second mandolins--H. H. Berry, S. A. Berry, P. O'Brien, M. A. Edwards, T. Gassett, A. Hunt, C. E. Pickhardt.

Guitars--W. H. L. Bell, H. I. Cobb, C. N. Holwill, W. C. Titcomb, W. D. Wadsworth, A. Wait.
