At the University Boat-house.

Winter work for the rowing men is now in full progress and both the Freshman and the class crews have light daily work. After rowing on the machines or in the tank, the men are given a few minutes drill at the "Whitely" exercisers, and, if the weather permits, a short run out of doors.

the new boar-house is so large that all the men how rowing can probably be retained for the rest of the season. It is expected that the crews will go out on the river in the first week in March, and then on account of the greater accommodations of equipment offered by the use of both boat-houses, more men will be able to row than are at present.

The tank is being used on alternate days by the Weld and Newell clubs, and has thus far proved useful but not entirely satisfactory. Although skeleton blades are used, the water seems heavy on the car and requires more work than in an ordinary shell. Nevertheless it is considered a success and a great improvement over the machines.
