Facts on the Yale Game.

The following facts have been compiled on the Harvard-Yale game. In the first half Harvard rushed 47 times for a total gain of 167 yards, 4 rushes being made without gain, and one for a lose of two yards. Yale rushed 9 times and gained 14 yards, making but one rush without gain. In addition Yale made a 13 yard gain on a quarter back kick. A series of 15 straight rushes by Harvard netted 48 yards, while Yale's longest series consisted of three rushes, including the quarterback kick, and netted 15 yards. The longest individual gain on a rush during the whole game was made by Ristine, who carried the ball 34 yards around Yale's right end. Harvard ran back six kicks for gains, making a total gain of 79 yards. Yale ran back 5 kicks for gains and made 43 yards. The longest individual run on a kick during the first half was made by Marshall who ran back Yale's third kick-off for 47 yards. Yale's longest run on a kick in the first half was a 12 yard gain by DeSaulles. Harvard punted 6 times for a total distance of 250 yards. In addition Marshall made a drop kick goal from the 40 yard line. Yale also punted 6 times and made a total of 117 yards. DeSaulles failed in two attempts for a drop kick. Harvard's longest kick was made in the first half by Kernan, who punted the ball over Yale's goal line from Harvard's 48 yard line. Yale's longest punt in the first half was a thirty yard kick by DeSaulles.

Harvard fumbled twice, once losing the ball, and Yale fumbled once without losing the ball. Yale's fumble, however, resulted in a loss of twenty yards. Harvard was twice penalized 10 yards and once lost the ball for holding. The only blocked kick of the game was Harvard's block of Yale's attempt for a goal from the field. Both teams were twice forced to kick in this half.

In the second half Harvard made 50 rushes for a total gain of 173 yards, 3 being made with no gain, and one with a lose of one yard. Yale rushed 16 times and gained 32 yards, making 5 rushes without gain. Harvard in this half made the longest series of rushes of the game; it consisted of 17 plays and netted 65 yards. Yale made a series of 6 rushes for a gain of 10 yards, her longest run being 4 yards, made by Hart inside left end. Harvard ran back 6 kicks for gains, making a distance of 96 yards. Marshall made the longest return on a kick of the whole game, when he carried one of Yale's punts back for 50 yards. Yale ran in one kick, Weymouth carrying back Harvard's kick-off for 15 yards. In the second half Harvard punted 4 times for a total of 98 yards, and Yale punted 7 times for a total of 237 yards. Yale made her longest kick in this half. Vanderpoel sending the ball 44 yards on a free kick. Harvard fumbled three times, once losing the ball. Yale fumbled once without losing the ball, but for a loss of 12 yards. Harvard was penalized once by a loss of 10 yards and once by the loss of the ball. Harvard twice lost the ball on downs, and Yale lost it once. Harvard was twice forced to kick, and Yale had to kick 3 times.

In all Harvard rushed 97 times and gained 340 yards, while Yale rushed 25 times and gained 46 yards. Harvard ran back 12 kicks for gains, making a total of 175 yards, and Yale ran back 6 kicks for a total gain of 58 yards. Harvard kicked 10 times, exclusive of kick-offs and drop-kicks, for a total distance of 348 yards; while Yale kicked 13 times for a total of 354 yards. Harvard averaged 3 1-2 yards gain on rushes and about 35 yards on kicks; Yale averaged 1 4-5 yards on rushes and 27 yards on kicks. Harvard lost the ball twice on fumbles and twice on downs; Yale did not lose the ball on fumbles, but lost it once on downs. Harvard was forced to kick 4 times and Yale was forced to kick 5 times.
