The Freshman eleven defeated Andover at Andover on Saturday by a score of 17 to 0. The Freshmen played a fast and aggressive game, free from fumbles, and gained ground steadily by well directed attacks, against Andover's tackles. Few gains were made around the ends. The Andover team was very light, was weak on the defense, and was unable to gain first down twice in succession, so that at no time during the game was the Freshman goal threatened.
The whole Freshman team played well in unison, each man helping the others. Hurley, at right halfback, played a strong game, and was quick to follow his interference. Crocker, at right end, played a steady game. Harrison and Leatherbee made gains almost every time they carried the ball, and the latter punted well. At quarterback, Elkins was very successful, running the team with excellent judgment and being particularly effective on the defense. Score--Harvard Freshmen 17, Andover 0. Touchdowns--Hurley, Kidder 2. Umpire--Cartwright. Referee -- Freeman. Linesmen--Grant and Cook. Timekeeper--Chase. Time--20 minute halves.
