Letter from Mr. Washington.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Dr. Peabody has received the following letter from Mr. Booker T. Washington in regard to the meeting in the interest Negro Education held on Dec. 17. Dear Dr. Peabody:

I cannot tell you how greatly I enjoyed the opportunity so kindly provided by you to speak to the students of Harvard University, among others, at Sanders Theatre, some days ago. I was especially glad to present our work to them and to be assured by their sympathetic responsiveness that they found interest in the presentation. The full amount given at this meeting for our work, including pledges, was $249, which greatly helps and encourages us.

I have the hope that another opportunity will offer itself for me to meet them. I am sure I should enjoy the occasion as much as they could.

With gratitude for your continued interest in our work, as well as thanks for the splendid reception which was accorded me by the teachers and students of "Old Harvard," I am Yours very sincerely,   BOOKER T. WASHINGTON.
