During the summer work has been begun on the new fence which is to be built around the Yard. At present the construction is confined to the three gates and sections of fence given by the classes of '74, '75 and '76, in the rear of Holden Chapel, at Dane Hall, and between Brooks House and Holworthy, respectively. The design comprises a granite base and above this a fence of simple iron palings the monotony of which is broken by wrought iron ornaments placed midway between brick pillars. Already a large part of the stone and brickwork of these sections has been completed. The accompanying architect's drawing shows the gate and fence between Holworthy and Stoughton. The design was furnished by McKim, Mead and White.
