Soldiers Field Fence.

A final decision has been reached regarding the fence which will be built along the river front of Soldiers Field. The pillars are to be of brick and stone and the rest of wrought iron, resembling closely the fence along North Harvard street. When completed the fence will be 5000 feet in length. Soldiers Field will then be fenced in on all sides except the one towards Brighton. The fence will be built by the University, but its cost will be defrayed by the Metropolitan Park Commission in exchange for a grant of forty-six acres of ground from the Longfellow marsh. The whole structure is expected to be completed by the end of this summer.
