Brown, 3; Harvard 2.

In a game full of brilliant fielding plays the University nine was defeated for the second time by Brown at Providence by the score of 3 to 2. As in the first Brown game, Harvard was unable to hit Washburn. The chief cause of the defeat, however, was poor judgment in base running, and the superiority of the opponents' play in the field.

Stillman was very steady except in the sixth inning when he allowed three hits which resulted in two runs. The absence of Reid was responsible for some of Stillman's ineffectiveness, and also weakened the batting of the team. Kendall showed some improvement over his recent work, but in the third inning was called out for leaving second too soon on a fly catch, and so lost a good chance to score. Clark's only error was in the sixth inning and was very costly; otherwise he played a good game, especially in throwing to first. BROWN.   a.b.  r.  b.h.  p.o.  a.  e.
