The celebration last night was a great success. A crowd of several thousand students and graduates gathered at the knoll behind the President's House, and roused as much enthusiasm as could be desired. W. A. M. Burden '00 led the cheering, which was given with a will. Dr. Nichols, head coach of the nine, made a short speech, saying that he had great confidence in the team, and gave some suggestions about the cheering today. Burden also spoken briefly, thanking Dr. Nichols for his faithful and enthusiastic coaching.
Captain Reid made an encouraging speech, praising the work of the men on the nine, and reminding the College of its responsibility in supporting the team. Jack McMaster also made a characteristic speech.
The band, which played during the mass meeting, drew the crowd well together. Two new songs to old tunes were practiced for the game today, and went off with spirit.
