In the second day's play of the state tennis tournament at Longwood yesterday afternoon, D. F. Davis '00 and L. E. Ware '99 qualified for the finals. They will play the final match this afternoon at 3.30 and the winner will challenge M. D. Whitman '99 for the title of state champion.

The feature of today's game was the Davis-Wright match. Davis was in fine form and played a cool, steady game. His service was swift and sure, and by his clever placing he kept Wright constantly in the back court. Wright's game was unsteady, as a result of his opponent's aggressive play, although at times his form was brilliant.

The matches resulted as follows:

Second round--A. S. Pier beat T. Motley, 6-3, 6-3.

Third round--L. E. Ware '99 beat G. S. Keyes, 6-4, 6-0: A. S. Pier beat H. Ward '00, 6-3, 6-3; B. C. Wright '03 beat G. L. Cabot, 6-3, 6-3; D. F. Davis beat P. P. Sharples, 6-0, 6-1.

Semi-final round--D. F. Davis beat B. C. Wright, 6-3, 6-3; L. E. Ware beat A. S. Pier, 6-3, 6-0.
