The Pierian Sodality gave their second concert in Sanders Theatre last night before an audience which almost filled the house. The music was of a higher order than that played at the concert last November, but the Pierian showed itself fully capable of mastering it. All the pieces were played with very good expression and showed a finished style, which could only have been attained by long and careful practice. The Vorspiel and Siciliana, from "Cavalleria Rusticana" was especially well rendered, and the softer arts, played by a cornet accompanied by the picking of the violins, gave a very good effect. The orchestra as a whole was brought out best in the "Hungarian Dances," which were played with expression and rhythm.
Miss Eaton, who was accompanied by Miss Isabelle Moore, rendered her pieces admirably, and was highly appreciated by the audience. Her voice was shown to the best advantage in the "Air de Salome," from "Herodiade."
