The Law School and the three upper class crews of the Newell Club went on the water for the first time yesterday. The four crews rowed for about a half an hour up and down in front of the boathouse, starting at first by fours and then rowing with the whole eight. Vail coached from a single. A high wind was blowing, making the water rough, so that the blade work was a trifle ragged, but on the whole the crews rowed fairly evenly considering that it was their first day on the water. Following is the order of the eights:
Law School--Stroke, Blake; 7, Sheafe; 6, Marvin; 5, Burden; 4, Swift; 3, Parker; 2, Byrd; bow, Brown; cox., Davidge.
1900--Stroke, Higginson, Harding; 7, Gray; 6, Gail; 5, Howard; 4, L. Brown; 3, Bolling; 2, Forman, Harding; bow, Livermore; cox., Goodridge.
1901--Stroke, Hawkins; 7, J. Lawrence; 6, Gilchrist; 5, Peyton; 4, Henderson; 3, Swaim; 2, Cunningham; bow, W. Lawrence; cox., Howe.
1902--Stroke, Brownell; 7, Goodell; 6, Bullard; 5, Platt; 4, Champollion; 3, Campbell; 2, E. Smith; bow, Movius; cox., Jackson.
