The Intercollegiate Fencing Tournament will be held this evening at the Raquet and Tennis Club in New York. This will be the seventh tournament since the club offered the intercollegiate trophy--a bronze swordsman--in 1893. Of the six tournaments already held Harvard has won all but the fifth, and the trophy is now in the Gymnasium. This year four teams will compete,--the U. S. Naval Academy, Cornell, Columbia and Harvard.

Of the members of the Harvard team, M. D. de Diaz '99 is the most experienced swordsman. This is his third year on the team, and last year he won the duelling-sword championship of the United States. H. Clapp, Dn., has had some experience on the Junior Harvard team and on the Junior B. A. A. team. This year the Junior B. A. A. team won the Junior championship of the United States, and Clapp's was the best individual score. This is his first year on the University team. F. W. Hitchings '01, who was chosen as the third member last night, after a hard contest with R. N. Henderson '02, is practically inexperienced, but has shown great promise.
