A movement is on foot to form a triangular chess league between Williams, Amherst and Wesleyan.

H. Peirce, fullback on the Carlisle Indian football team, has been elected captain of the eleven for 1901.

"A Harvard Alphabet," a book of rhymes on the humorous side of college life, by W. B. Wheelwright '01, F. R. DuBois '01, and H. W. Palmer '01, illustrated by J. G. Cole '01 and R. Edwards '01, will be put on sale today.

The first trial of candidates for the Freshman Banjo Club, held last night, brought out some good material. The final make-up of the club will not be decided until after the second trial, which will probably take place early in January. A. B. Taylor has been appointed temporary leader.

Columbia will build a club house for the students of the university near Broadway and 116th St. The house will contain a large meeting room, a reception room and college society rooms on the ground floor. On the second floor will be study and reading rooms and a reception room; a reference library, a large hall and an archive room will occupy the rest of the building.
