In Honor of John Marshall

The Law School Faculty has voted to observe February 4, in honor of the memory of Chief Justice John Marshall. On February 4, 1801 John Marshall was appointed chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States by President John Adams. He received the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws from Harvard in 1806.

The exercises will be held in Sanders Theatre in conjunction with the Massachusetts Bar Association on the afternoon of February 4. The courts of Massachusetts will suspend session for that day. An address will be delivered by Professor J. B. Thayer, of the Law School.

In the evening the Bar Association will hold a banquet at the Algonquin Club, Boston. Members of the Law School are to be present, and speeches will be made by prominent members of the Massachusetts Bar.
