Classical Club.

The Harvard Classical Club is on a firmer footing this year than ever before. Twenty-five new members have joined the club raising the total membership, including active and honorary members, to ninety. Owing to this increase it was found necessary to have a regular place of meeting and a room in Phillips Brooks House has been procured. The meetings of the club which are held every three weeks are devoted to the reading of plays from old classic authors and discussions on current classical literature. At frequent intervals papers are read by members of the Faculty and by professors from other colleges who are visiting the University.

Three public lectures will be given this year under the auspices of the club. The first of these will be given by Professor Louis Dyer of Oxford University, on Dec. 21. This lecture, which will be on "Crete," promises to be very instructive and entertaining owing to the remarkable discoveries brought to light by recent excavations in that island.
