Christian Association Work.

The Young Men's Christian Association has completed its list of devotional studies by the formation of a class in foreign missions. This class will take up missionary history from its beginning down to the present time, studding especially the work and the fields of the most eminent missionaries. In view of the recent troubles in China the course is expected to be of unusal interest now.

The Association is also conducting outside philanthropic work at T wharf, the Chinese Sunday school, tramps' lodging-house in Boston, the East Cambridge Reading Room and in various Boy's clubs.

T Wharf, which is situated on Atlantic Avenue, at the foot of State street, in Boston, is the dock at which all the fishing vessels coming into Boston harbor unload their cargoes. A reading room has been established at the end of the pier, and is intended as a place where the fishermen and sailors may spend their hours on shore. The room is fitted up with books, magazines, and games, and is open from 8 a. m. till 9 p. m.

Fifteen men are teaching at the Chinese Sunday School every Sunday afternoon. Although the Chinese come at first simply to learn English a large number of them ultimately become interested in Christianity and some have gone back to China as missionaries.

The tramps' lodging house, which is under the control of the Y. M. C. A., is a place where men may get food and lodging for a certain amount of work. The institution is self-supporting.
