The Freshmen played their first, game of football yesterday afternoon with the Cambridge Manual Training School and won by the score of 5 to 0. The game was what might be expected at the beginning of the season. There were the usual faults of fumbling, bad interference and poor tackling.

The first half of ten minutes especially showed up the weakness of both teams. On the defensive there was no team work whatever, so that on mass formations both sides gained at will and both lost opportunities to score through fumbling at critical moments.

The work of Jackson at centre, Rainsford at leftguard, for the Freshmen, and of Gallagher and Woodbury for the Training School was commendable.

Mass formation secured a touchdown for the Freshmen in the second half. Upon securing the ball in the centre of the field, the Freshmen had little difficulty in working down the field on line plays.
