Mr. Jacob A. Riis of New York, will lecture on January 20 under the auspices of the Cantabrigia Club, on "The Battle with the Slums." The lecture will be for the benefit of the Radcliffe Scholarship Fund of which $2000 of the necessary $5000 has already been raised. Last year the Cantabrigia Club provided two scholarships, but the plan usually followed has been to offer one scholarship and add the money remaining to the permanent fund.
Mr. Riis is known as the author of "How the Other Half Lives," "The Children of the Poor" and other articles on social questions. The lecture will be illustrated by photographs taken during the last ten years in the tenement house district of New York, when the author was serving on the Small Parks Committee and the Committee on Vagrancy.
