The Reverend Mr. Stubbs, dean of Ely Cathedral, England, will preach at Appleton Chapel next Sunday evening. Dean Stubbs is select preacher at Cambridge University, a position which corresponds to membership on the board of preachers at Harvard. He is the author of several works on social subjects, some of which are: "Village Politics," "Christ and Democracy," "Christ and Economics," and "Charles Kingsley and the Christian Social Movement." He is at present giving a course of lectures on literary subjects at Steinert Hall, Boston.
The first Vesper Service of the new year will be held this evening at five o'clock. The musical programme is as follows: "Great God, to Whom We Bow," by Gounod; "Sing of Mercy," (Lauda Zion), by Mendelssohn; Duet from "Bethlehem," by West.
