The final trial of the Freshman Debating Club for the Worcester debate was held last night and resulted in the choice of the following team: C. H. Scovell, A. Black, H. P. Williams, and L.B. Hill, alternate. The contestants each spoke ten minutes on the subject, "Resolved, That the English claims in the present controversy with the South African Republic are justifiable." The judges were W. M. Chadbourne '00, E. Mayer '00 and S. B. Southworth '00.
Besides the regular debaters, G. H. Fernall, Jr., and A. J. Hammerslough were designated by the judges to act, together with the alternate, as a second team.
