The Freshman interclub race between the three Weld and the two Newell crews held shortly after 4 o'clock yesterday, was won by the First Weld in 8 minutes and 28 seconds. The Second Weld overlapped the First Weld by half a length, and the First Newell was the same distance behind the Second Weld. Three lengths of open water separated them from the Third Weld, which was two lengths ahead of the Second Newell. The course was down the basin for a mile and a half to the Union Boat House. The crews were ranged from the wall in the following order: Third Weld, Second Weld, Second Newell, First Newell and First Weld. There was no wind.
The First Weld took the lead at the start, and held it without difficulty to the end. For half a mile the First Weld and the First Newell drew away from the others, but at the bridge the Second Weld drew quickly up and gaining steadily passed the latter at the mile mark.
