First Secret Practice.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The usual secret practice of the University eleven began yesterday afternoon, although it has not been the custom in former years to hold it so long before the final games. The first eleven was able to break up the guards-back plays completely, owing to the presence of Burden in the line-up and to the improvement Coach Lewis has brought about in the defense. He has introduced new features in the defense to be employed against Pennsylvania's style of play which are calculated to be more effective than ever.

Fast offensive play by the 'Varsity resulted in three touchdowns in the second half against the second eleven, who used the Pennsylvania defense. Towards the end of the practice, the first eleven gained at will through the second. All the men are in fine condition and were not seeming over-taxed by the long, hard work of the afternoon. In the preliminary practice Reid's punting was good, and he played throughout the game. Assisting Coach Dibblee in uniform, were Cranston, Lewis, and Waters, Fairchild, and W. C. Forbes.

The line-up follows: First.  Second. Campbell, Ristine, l.e.  r.e., Hawkins. Donald, Swain, l.t.  r.t., Peyton. Hollingsworth, l.g.  r.g., Lee. C. Sargent, c.  c., Kasson, Wheeler. Warren, Ellis, r.h.  l.h., Brayton. Reid, f.b.  f.b., Jaynes.
