Andover defeated Exeter by the score of 8 to 2 at Andover on Saturday. The result of this game has made the number of contests won by each school since athletic relations were renewed in the fall of 96, exactly even.
Carter, who pitched throughout the game for Exeter, was found for eleven hits. Stephenson, on the other hand, allowed but one double and two singles. Two of these hits, however, came in the second inning, and with a misdirected throw, helped Exeter to score her two runs. Andover's misplays were less costly than those of Exeter, nearly all of which were made with men on bases. Matthews, at shortstop, played a sharp fielding game for Andover, and assisted Quinby and Chapman in the only double play.
The score of the game by innings follows:
Innings, 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
Andover, 0 2 0 0 3 1 0 2 0-8
Exeter, 0 2 0 0 0 0 0 0 0-2
