Cricket Eleven Wins.

The Harvard cricket eleven opened the season last Saturday, defeating Brockton by the score of 97 to 46. Though the score seems a little onesided, this is accounted for by Brockton's poor bowling more than by Harvard's strong batting. Of the whole team, but three men got double figures: Carleton, 27; Dove, 27; and Hastings, 23. Though the fielding was at first ragged, the work of the eleven as a whole was far from disappointing for the opening game. The eleven is weakened at the bat by the loss of Adams and Scattergood, but if anything it is stronger in bowling than last year's team. Hastings and Ward had little difficulty in retiring Brockton for 46 runs.
