Seventeen men answered the call for candidates for the '99 baseball team yesterday afternoon. The material is fair and there are good prospects for a team that will at least be up to the class team average, if not above it.
In addition to the men who were out yesterday, Litchfield, Thompson, Dibblee, Cochrane and Jaffray will later join the squad.
The candidates are as follows: J. C. McCall, P. G. Carleton, B. H. Whitheck, H. M. Hall, M. G. Beaman, B. A. Franklin, R. R. Rumery, W. R. Taylor, J. H. Barnes, P. L. Brown, E. K. Haskell, H. E. Hildreth, J. Nowell, I. L. Jameson, J. B. Holden, J. Rousmaniere, F. W. Harley.
A short practice game was played with 1900 in which the various candidates were given a trial. The juniors won.
