Sophomores Win in Debate with Freshmen.

The second inter-club debate between the Freshman and Sophomore Debating Clubs, held last evening in Sever 11, was won by the Sophomores, who spoke on the affirmative of the question: "Resolved, that the President of the United States should be elected for a term of six years and should be ineligible for reelection. The Sophomore Club was represented by W. M. Chadbourne, P. A. Atherton, H. S. Bowers, and A. L. Becker, alternate. As in the first inter-club debate, Union and Forum Sophomores were excluded from the Sophomore trials. The Freshman Club was represented by J. G. Peirce, L. M. Dougan, H. W. Bowker, and J. C. Mangan alternate. The judges were C. E. Seaman Asst., S. R. Wrightington 1 L., and W. E. Hutton 3 L. F. Doybns '98 presided.

The Sophomores won the debate by good team work and clever rebuttal, the speaking of Bowers being particularly effective. Bowker made by far the best presentation for the Freshmen and easily carried off the honors of the evening on general form.
