Mr. Copeland's Lecture Tonight.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The lecture this evening-at eight o'clock, in Sever 11-will be a discussion of Thackeray as a writer, mainly with regard to "Vanity Fair," "Pendennis," "The Newcomes," "Henry Esmond," "The Virginians," and "The English Humourists of the Eighteenth Century."

Mr. Copeland will endeavor to show certain general resemblances between Fielding and Thackeray, and the sharp difference between Thackeray (on the one hand) and Smollett and Dickens (on the other), in their methods of drawing character.

The reading will be from "Vanity Fair," and Thackeray's lecture on Fielding.
