Classical Schools at Rome and Athens.

The Classical School at Rome, although estabilished only three years ago, is already performing a great service for American scholarship. The holders of scholarships for the present year are:

H. C. Butler, A. B. (Columbia), G. N. Olcott, A. B. (Columbia), and C. L. Meader, A. B. (Michigan).

At the Classical School in Athens the scholarships are held by C. N. Brown, A. M. (Harvard), G. H. Chase, A. B. (Harvard), and Miss M. L. Nichols, A. B. (Smith). Although these scholarships are open to graduates of all American universities, at least one of them has been won every year since the establishment of the school in 1881 by a Harvard man.

Excavations were interrupted last year after only a week's progress by the Graeco-Turkish war.
