Cercle Francais Lecture Fund.

The generous sum of $30,000 has been deposited with the Mercantile Trust Company of New York by J. H. Hyde of the class of '98. as a permanent lecture fund for the Cercle Francais. The interest on the sum will be used to bring to Harvard every year a distinguished French man-of-letters, who will give a series of lectures on French art, literature or history.

The first lecturer is to be M. Rene Doumic, the literary critic of the "Revue des Deux Mondes," who will give a series of eight lectures during the month of March on the different literary aspects of French Romanticism,- poetry, the novel, the drama, history, criticism, etc.

These lectures will be given in Sanders Theatre in the evening and will be open by ticket to the Faculty, to the members of Harvard and Radcliffe, and of the Prospect Union, and to the patronesses of the Cercle Francais Play, which is to be given during the week after Easter. After these have been provided for, the tickets will be distributed on application to the public.
