The football practice yesterday consisted of the regular 8-pound iron dumbbell drill followed by starting and running in the forenoon, and of wooden dumb-bell drill and falling on the ball, and signal practice, followed by a line-up of two scrub elevens in the afternoon. The regular 'Varsity men, excepting Wheeler and Doucette, were not in the line-up.
The two elevens lined up as follows:
SUBSTITUTE 'VARSITY. SECOND.
Lewis, l. e. r. e., Graydon.
Wheeler, l. t. r. t., Sargent '99.
Murchie, l. g. r. g., Trainer.
Burden, c. c., Hoague.
Doucette, r. g. l. g., Sargent '00.
Lee, r. t. l. t., Gray.
Richardson, r. e. l. e., Davis.
Hatch, q. b. q. b., Macguire.
Cozzens, l. h. b. r. h. b., Livermore.
Parker, r. h. b. l. h. b., Wadsworth.
Brown, f. b. f. b., Warren.
Two short halves were played. At the outset Parker made a good run of 40 yards on receiving the ball from the kick-off. Hatch made the only touchdown of the game. Wadsworth ran well with the ball, and Doucette, who was tried at guard, broke through well often stopping the plays of the second before they were started.
P. J. Gierasch, substitute on the eleven two years ago, W. S. McCornick '00, and F. S. Munro 2L, captain and half-back of the '95 Colgate eleven, were among those who joined the squad yesterday. F. Hallowell '93, was out to assist in the coaching.
The practice today will be the last work in the morning. Tomorrow the afternoon practice will begin regularly as the only work of the day. This afternoon there will probably be a line up between the first and second elevens.
