POUGHKEEPSIE, N. Y., June 20.- Saturday afternoon the 'Varsity rowed three miles on time, which will be their last hard work before the race. The conditions were very poor, with a following wind, rough water, and an ebb tide. As a result the boat was half filled with water during the first mile, and the time was slow. From now on all efforts will be devoted to perfecting the time and uniformity of the swing.
W. Alexander '87 was at the quarters today, and this afternoon the whole 'Varsity squad went down river to West Point on the yacht "Halcyon," placed at their service by H. C. Smith '93. Several members of the crew also attended a lecture in Poughkeepsie by Burr McIntosh on "Yale at Henley." The Cornell, Pennsylvania and Columbia men were also there.
Mr. Van Duzer brought Mr. Lehmann, on Saturday, a draft of rules for the race. They have not yet been decided upon.
