The second and last of the Freshman ball games with Yale was held on Holmes Field yesterday afternoon, resulting in a victory for Yale by the score of 9 to 5. After starting out very well in the first two innings, the Harvard nine went to pieces, and for the balance of the game played miserably.

In the first four innings, McCornick allowed Yale only two hits, but in the fifth he lost his head and four runs were scored as a result of four successive hits and two bad errors. McCornick struck out eight men and did very effective work at the bat, his long drive into the willows, in the second, being the feature of the game.

The batting strength of the nines was about equal, but in the field Yale was far superior. Poor headwork at critical moments and several inexcusable errors were the cause of the defeat.

The game as a whole was distinctly discreditable to the Harvard nine. They seemed at first to be over-confident, and later, when the game was going against them, were, to put it mildly, unable to rise to the emergency.
