The 'Varsity nine practice yesterday was principally in batting, with the Freshmen in the field and professional players in the box. The batting was strong and the hits very well placed, two doubles, one three-bagger, and a home run by Burgess being made in the three-quarters of an hour played. Short practice at fielding followed and, with the exception of Stevenson's work at third, the men all showed much snap and form in their game. Stevenson was rather slow in the recovery and wild in throwing to first.
The nines were as follows: 'Varsity-Haughton, 1b.; Dean, 2b.; Stevenson, 3b.; Chandler, s. s.; Fitz, p.; Davis, c.; Rand, l. f.; Lynch, c. f.; Burgess, r. f. Freshman-Lewis, 1b.; Farrington, 2b.; Ewer, 3b.; Beardsall, s. s.; Dowd and Sullivan, p.; Edmunds, c.; Foster, l. f.; Cutting, c. f.; Egbert, r. f.
