'99 Defeats Somerville High.

Yesterday afternoon on Soldiers Field the Sophomores easily won their first game of the season from the Somerville High School nine, by a score of 12-7. The game was uninteresting throughout, characterized by '99's hard hitting and Somerville's loose fielding.

The Sophomores started in with a rush and by good batting succeeded in scoring seven runs in the first three innings. Their other runs were made in the sixth and eighth. Galbraith pitched well and, with the exception of Mills's two errors, received perfect support. Nowell at third also played a strong game, making several difficult assists. Jamison led the batting list with four hits out of five times at bat. It is a noteworthy fact that three of the '99 team, Nowell, Galbraith and Robinson, played on the No Names, the champion nine of the scrub baseball series.
