Yesterday afternoon, on Soldiers Field, the Hopkinson School nine defeated the Seniors 6-3 in an uninteresting one-sided game. Hopkinson had everything her own way after the fourth inning, when hits off Harris, aided by Garrison's and N. P. Hallowell's errors, scored three runs. Adams was substituted for Harris in the next inning, Hopkinson hitting him at will for three more runs. He steadied down, however, and pitched the game out well.

The Seniors played strongly at times, but seemed to lose control of themselves when men were on bases. Two of their runs were scored in the sixth inning on a base on balls to Harris, Field's first on an error, and a single and double by Scott and Dunlop. The other run was made in the eighth inning on Garrison's hit when the bases were full. With only one out, Nichols' intended sacrifice then resulted in a neat double play from the plate to first. For the Seniors, Field played the best fielding game, accepting seven chances without an error. Following is the score by innings:

Innings. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

Hopkinson, 0 0 0 3 3 0 0 0 0-6

Seniors, 0 0 0 0 0 2 0 1 0-3

Hits-Hopkinson, 8; '97, 8. Errors-Hopkinson, 2; '97, 8. Struck out-by Nickerson, 5; by Stillman, 2; by Harris, 2. Two-base hits-Stillman (2), Dunlop. Double plays-Jaynes and Shea, I. Hallowell and Shea.
