On Monday the nine defeated the Brockton team at Brockton by a score of 7-5 in an interesting game. Harvard batted strongly and played a snappy fielding game, Dean leading in the field and Beale at the bat.
On Wednesday the nine met its first defeat at the hands of the New Bedford team on their home grounds by a score of 7-4 New Bedford won by superior all round play, Loughlin putting up the best game for Harvard.
At Hanover, on Saturday, the nine lost to Dartmouth by the score of 4-3. Although the score was so close, Harvard was clearly outplayed, being entirely unable to bunch her bits, while in the fifth inning two bases on balls and two hits netted the home team three runs.
Dartmouth started the game with one run, on singles by McCornack and Folsom, assisted by two stolen bases and Rand's error. Thanks to two hits and a passed ball, Harvard went her one better in her half of the inning. The score remained thus until the third, when Harvard added one on Rand's two-begger and two fielding plays. In the fifth Dartmouth scored three runs, and this ended the scoring for the game.
