WELD BOAT CLUB MEETING.

All Candidates to be Coached in the 'Varsity Stroke.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Weld Boat Club held a meeting yesterday evening to organize crews for work on the river this spring. President W. S. Youngman opened the meeting and explained how the work would be conducted. The men will be divided into squads at once, the men of each class together. Over each squad will be a temporary captain, but not of the same class, so that no man will be given a greater chance than another. Youngman then introduced Captain Goodrich of the 'Varsity.

Goodrich spoke of the scheme to have all the rowing under one management this year. Previously there has been a lack of harmony between the Weld crews and the class crews, but the effort this year will be to have the Weld crews regarded as second class crews. The 'Varsity management will supervise all the rowing and if any man shows promise he will be advanced as he deserves. The object of this arrangement is to interest as many men as possible in rowing and so make a good substructure for the 'Varsity and class crews.

President Youngman then closed the meeting with a few more remarks on the training. Every man will be given a chance to row on the river and will continue to receive instruction throughout the spring if he shows any promise.

The following men reported as candidates. There were also a number of men present who did not give their names because they are still with their class crews.
