The 'varsity baseball squad was yesterday divided into two nines, which played each other for about an hour and a half. No score was kept either of runs or innings. The make-up of the nines was as follows:
Paine, pitcher Cozzens.
Brown, catcher Branch.
Stearns, 1 b. Bouve.
Dean, 2 b. Wrenn.
Crawford, s. s. Haskell.
Stevenson, 3 b. Holt.
Rand, l. f. G. L. Paine.
Beale, c. f. Dayton.
Burgess, r. f. Clark.
The other candidates practiced fielding grounders and catching flies in another part of the field. The weather was so cold that the fielding was very loose on both sides. The batting on the other hand, was heavy, as neither Cozzens nor Paine exerted themselves very much.
