The Freshman baseball squad has now been in training for three weeks. The squad, numbering about fifty-five men, does the regular dumb-bell exercise in the Gymnasium and then in the cage the men have practice in fielding grounders, sliding and starting.
Although not as many candidates as usual presented themselves this year, yet the men have so far shown up fairly well and the team will probably be up to the usual standard of freshman teams. Five of the men have been taken to the 'Varsity squad and as soon as others show any marked proficiency they will be taken also. W. L. Garrison '97, who coached last year's Freshman team, is the regular coach this year.
Two games with Yale have been arranged for this spring, the first, May 15, at New Haven, and the second on May 31, at Cambridge. The whole schedule has not been completed, but in addition to the Yale games, the team will play either Brown or Amherst freshmen, North Shore A. A., St. Mark's School and Andover.
